Q: What forms and information should students provide, and by when?
A: Students have been asked to enroll in the Pep Band Google Classroom, where they should read and complete the Student Handbook Agreement, and to print copies of issued music for this season. Students should also enroll in the Remind App for relevant text messages and communications from the Director.
Q: Is Pep Band participation required?
A: According to the curriculum guide, students in HHS who are enrolled in Jazz Band or Symphonic Band are required to participate in Pep Band. We are also happy to welcome students in Satz school, as well as any Holmdel student who attends any of the Monmouth County Vocational schools. If a student is not in band but plays an instrument and would like to participate, they are also welcome!
Q: Are rehearsals mandatory?
A: Yes, rehearsals posted are mandatory, and the schedule is subject to change. Sectionals and/or additional rehearsals may be added as needed by the Director, staff or Section Leaders. Students should check the posted schedule in their Google Classroom, as the courtesy copy on the HPBPO site may not be updated as frequently. If a student is unable to make a rehearsal, they have been asked to communicate with Mr. Buckle through the Classroom or they can email: dbuckle@holmdelschools.org
Q: Do students have to wear the issued uniform?
A: Yes, the district has purchased uniforms for the Pep Band for a classy and uniform look at public performances like football games, parades, assemblies and other events. See the Uniform Page for details on how to order.
Q: What parts of the uniform do participants get to keep?
A: The main components of the uniform (jackets, pants, vinyl raincoats) will be returned to the school. The students will be required to purchase the "consumable" pieces of the uniform (hat, gloves, t-shirt and shoes) which they will keep. The order form for these pieces will be posted in May 2025.
Q: Can students drive to-and-from Away games or events?
A: The Board of Education provides transport for the students and staff to all off-campus events. The students will be traveling together, and staying together; no self-transport will be permitted. If a student is being transported to/from an event by a parent or guardian, a written request must be submitted to the Director prior to the scheduled event and a waiver will be required by the HHS Administration in accordance with BOE policy. Students should still arrive at the High School before and after games with the full Pep Band for uniform checks, putting away equipment, and any important after-event meetings/announcements by the director.
Q: What about Home games - can students leave at anytime?
A: Students will be required to remain with the Pep Band until the end of the game, at which time students will return to the band room to put away instruments, equipment, and participate in any wrap-up meeting by their section leader or Director. Again, if a student needs to make a change for any reason, a written request must be submitted to the Director and approved prior to the scheduled event.

Q: What is the Holmdel Pep Band?
A: The Holmdel Pep Band is an extension of the Holmdel High School music program, and is comprised of students in the HHS Symphonic Band and Jazz Band. The Pep Band's growth is also supported by the attendance of students in WR Satz school, Holmdel residents who attend Monmouth County Vocational schools, and any Satz or HHS student who may play an instrument but may not be enrolled in the band classes.
Q: Where does the Pep Band perform?
A: Primarily, you will see the Pep Band at all football games. We also look for opportunities to perform at assemblies, public events such as parades, pep rallies and other community functions.
Q: How can I learn more and stay up-to-date with new information or announcements?
A: We encourage all students and parents/guardians to join the Remind group for Pep Band. During the season, this texting app will be a great tool for immediate communications, alerts, bus delays, etc. You can also join our mailing list to receive an email with a notification of what's new. The Link to join the mailing list is found on the top yellow banner of this website. Lastly, the News & Info link will be updated regularly so check back often!
